Transportation and Essential Errand Service Guide

Guiding Hands Companion Services provides scheduled transportation and personal assistance designed to help adults complete medical appointments, essential errands, and other approved outings with greater comfort and confidence.

Each service request is reviewed individually to confirm availability, service details, and the estimated cost before an appointment is reserved.

Standard Appointment and Outing Service

$100 for up to two consecutive hours

Includes:

  • Door-to-door transportation

  • Personal assistance during the outing

  • Waiting in the lobby during medical or therapy appointments

  • Return transportation to the agreed destination

  • Up to 20 service miles

  • A prescription pickup or other approved stop when completed within the reserved service period

This service is appropriate for medical appointments, physical therapy, combined appointments and errands, and outings expected to require approximately two hours or more.

Local Essential Errand Service

$65 for up to one hour

Includes:

  • One primary local destination

  • Transportation or completion of one approved essential errand

  • Up to 10 service miles

Examples include:

  • Grocery shopping with or without the client

  • Prescription pickup or drop-off

  • Post office visit

  • Bank visit

  • Another approved local essential errand

Requests involving multiple destinations, medical appointment waiting, or an expected duration of approximately two hours or more are scheduled under the Standard Appointment and Outing Service.

Additional Charges

When applicable:

  • Additional time: $25 per 30-minute increment

  • Courtesy period: 10 minutes before the next time increment is charged

  • Additional mileage: $1.00 per mile beyond the mileage included with the selected service

  • Parking and tolls: Charged at actual cost

Service mileage is calculated from the client’s pickup location, through all approved destinations, and back to the agreed return location.

How Booking Works

  1. Submit a service request with the date, locations, and assistance needed.

  2. Guiding Hands will review the request and provide a written estimate.

  3. Complete the secure payment authorization and estimated payment through Square.

  4. Receive your appointment confirmation.

An appointment is not reserved until availability has been confirmed, the required authorization has been completed, and payment has been received.

Rescheduling and Cancellations

  • At least 24 hours’ notice: Full refund or complimentary rescheduling

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: 50% of the scheduled service charge

  • Less than two hours’ notice or client no-show: 100% of the scheduled service charge

Complete service and payment terms will be provided for review and electronic signature before an appointment is confirmed.
